Mr. Szachacz has been a Florida Bar Board Certified Criminal Defense Attorney since 1999 specializing in the defense of citizens accused of crimes nationwide. On February 3, 2025, Mr. Szachacz was appointed to serve as a member on the Orlando Division Grievance Committee for the Middle District of Florida by Chief United States District Judge Marcia Morales Howard. Mr. Szachacz and the firm have represented numerous defendants accused of homicide while successfully securing sentences allowing their release from custody much earlier than the defendants anticipated.
Mr. Szachacz and the firm represented Colleen Shipman, the victim of an attack by former astronaut Lisa Nowak. The firm protected Ms. Shipman’s interests during the State of Florida’s prosecution of Lisa Nowak. In addition, ABC’s 20/20 Primetime News Program, with anchor Chris Cuomo, featured a one-hour story about Colleen Shipman under the supervision of the firm.
Mr. Szachacz and the firm have represented many high-profile criminal defendants, appearing on television shows including Forensic Files; the Nancy Grace Show; the Johnnie Cochran Show; Oxygen Network’s Accident, Suicide or Murder. Additionally, the book Lipstick and Blood featured a murder trial Mr. Szachacz and Mr. Funk conducted in Easton, Pennslyvania.
